It is with great excitement that we announce the MC for this year’s Macquarie Ryde Relay for Life is the celebrity SBS network news presenter Kathy Novak. Kathy she will be hosting the Opening Ceremony and the Candlelight Ceremony on the 21st of September.

Kathy Novak is a presenter and reporter for SBS World News Australia.
Kathy began working at SBS in December 2004 as a news librarian, and soon took on extra responsibilities as production assistant working on the weekend news bulletins. In 2006 she joined SBS’s cadetship program, reporting for World News Australia, Dateline, Insight and Living Black as well as SBS radio news and online. After completing her cadetship in 2007, she moved to Canberra and worked as producer/reporter in SBS TV’s Parliament House bureau where she covered the 2007 Federal Election campaign and helped produce SBS’s APEC summit coverage.
Kathy was born in Singapore, to a Filipina mother and Australian father – originally Polish. Growing up she lived in Australia, Thailand, Belgium and the United States where she studied Broadcast Journalism and Politics at New York University. While studying, Kathy spent a term in Paris studying French and her first job was as an interview with CNN at the network’s United Nations bureau. After graduating university, Kathy continued to work at CNN for a year in the New York bureau. Kathy returned to Australia in 2004 after taking some time off to travel around the United States and Europe.
As well as reporting, Kathy is one of a team who present World News Australia – you’ll often find her anchoring the 10.30pm news bulletin.
