Last updated: July 17thWhat you didn't know about Cancer Council

This year, Cancer Council NSW is spending more than $16 million on research into all cancers. We are the only cancer charity that support people with all cancers. This year we are particularly focusing on research into high mortality cancers like pancreatic, brain and liver. Although we have seen a 30% increase in survival for pancreatic cancer in the past 10 years, the survival rate is still only about 5% - tragically low.

But Cancer Council is not just about research - it's about cancer prevention and support for people affected by cancer. Cancer Council can support people through individual financial assistance grants, a free legal and financial referral service, community grants for cancer reduction initiatives, cancer support groups - face-to-face, online and telephone, a Cancer Connect telephone support program that connects people who have been through cancer to someone facing a similiar journey, Understanding Cancer and Living Well After Cancer workshops, run by trained volunteers and staff, community presentations to groups and workplaces, the Sun Smart program for all primary schools and child care facilities and the list goes on and on.

To find out more about what Cancer Council is doing in your region, visit www.cancercouncil.com.au or call our Helpline on 13 11 20 - it's a one-stop shop for any cancer related inquiry.
